The Lighthouse Lodge and Veteran Residential Program provides housing assistance and other eligible services for individual men transitioning out of the criminal justice system and domestic violence situations who are homeless, disabled, unemployed, or otherwise in transition. The main goal for each man is that he moves along a continuum from instability to independence. A second goal is to provide assistance and supportive services to improve mental and physical wellness. The third goal is to prepare him for job readiness and improve interpersonal relationships.

We’d like to share the following poem that inspired a recent graduate of the Lighthouse Lodge.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, and the 23 million surviving veterans, we want to salute them. Here is a collection of inspirational Veteran’s Day quotes for our men and women in uniform, past, present, and future. God bless you and thank you.

When I say I am a Christian

When I say, “I am a Christian”,

I’m not shouting, “I am saved”.

I’m whispering, “I was lost”,

That is why I chose this way.

When I say, “I am a Christian”,

I don’t speak of this with pride.

I’m confessing that I stumble,

and Need someone to be my guide.

When I say, “I am a Christian”,

I am not trying to be strong.

I am professing that I am weak,

And pray for strength to carry on.

When I say, “I am a Christian”,

I’m not bragging of success.

I’m admitting I have failed,

And cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say, “I am a Christian”,

I’m not claiming to be perfect.

My flaws are too visible,

But, God believes I’m worth it.

When I say, “I am a Christian”,

I still feel the sting of pain.

I have my share of heartaches,

Which is why I speak His name.

When I say, “I am a Christian”,

I do not wish to judge.

I have no authority,

I only know I’m loved.

“Not only are we grateful for the food donations for our children, but we also have the opportunity to bless food to the community. There have been occasions when The Lighthouse has given us an overflow to where we also give it out to our children’s families.” ~ Faith Assembly Christian Child Care Development Center

“ Each day we are able to feed the children in our daycare hot delicious meals. Having the meals pre-packaged allows us to freeze portions and eliminate waste. As a result of the pandemic we are able to provide food bags to our congregation as well as to the community. The refrigerator that was donated by the Lighthouse has assisted in the distribution of fresh and perishable items. The fruits and vegetables are such a blessing to recipients on fixed income.”
